INA was founded in March 2000, having the mission of carrying our basic and applied research in the field of Agrobiotechnology and more specifically to implement research results and exploit new technologies in the:

(a)    production and testing of seeds and plant propagation material,

(b)   production and testing of foods and beverages,

(c)    protection of the environment,

(d)   evaluation of the biodiversity,

(e)    preservation and utilization of genetic resources,

(f)     exploitation of agricultural by-products and of biomass,

(g)    development and exploitation of bio-diagnostic methods of organisms and

(h)    standardization and molecular testing of food and beverages.
